The Greater Mauldin Chamber of Commerce’s monthly economic development meeting will present Griffin Park, a neo-traditional neighborhood development underway near Simpsonville, according to committee chairman Rick Cauthen. The informational meeting will be held at noon May 24 at Griffin Park, located at W. Georgia and Fork Shoals roads. The site is about 10 miles outside of Simpsonville city limits, close to Woodmont High School. Plans for the 321-acre site include 1,000 residential lots with a mixture of single-family homes, townhouses and condos, a town center with shops and walking trails leading to the Reedy River, according to developer Bryan Little and the park’s website. “There a reason we’re called the Greater Mauldin Chamber of Commerce, because we don’t limit ourselves to developments that are within the city limits,” Cauthen said, citing Griffin Park and Acadia, two traditional neighborhood developments underway in the greater Mauldin area. “I think there’s a lot of interest. People are buying into a lifestyle.” Cauthen sees both communities impacting Mauldin in the future. Griffin Park, specifically, promises increased development along the W. Georgia Road Corridor, he said. Tours of the river and the site will be available after the meeting for interested parties. Lunch will be provided. RSVP by 4 p.m. May 22 to the chamber at info@mauldinchamber.org or 297-1323. For more information, visit www.GriffinPark.com.
